요즘 Prince Charles 의 재혼에 대해 기사거리가 되고 있네요.

그런데 여왕은 결혼식에 참석하지 않기로 했네요.
Buckingham Palace has said the Queen will not attend the register office wedding of her son Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles on 8 April.

그들의 결혼에 대해 시민들의 반응은 냉대하네요. A….”I think it was inevitable but I feel saddened.
“I believe in a partner for life.
“I think the role of the Monarchy has been devalued anyway so it won’t really bother me if Camilla becomes Queen.”
B….”I don’t really care to be honest.
“The Monarchy doesn’t matter anymore.
“At the end of the day, it’ll just make big news for the tabloids.
“It’s his personal life and if he wasn’t royal nobody would bother.”
C…”I couldn’t care less. It has little relevance to me or anything else in this country.
“The newspapers will make something of it – it’s not us who are obsessed about it but the media.”

오늘 첼시와 리버풀의 칼링컵 결승이 있는 날입니다.
케즈만 ( 작년까지만 해도 이영표와 박지성이 있는 PSV 에서 함께 경기했는데 ) 이 결정적인 골을 넣고 환호하는 장면 입니다.
결국 Chelsea 가 Liverpool 을 3대2 로 이기고 우승컵을 안았습니다.
영국의 명문클럽중 하나인 Liverpool – Owen 을 Real Madrid 에 넘기고 Spain Striker Morientes 를 영입하였지만 Gerrard 의 Own goal 에 이어서 Extra time 에 결승골을 내주며 무너졌네요.

지난 생일에 받은 선물입니다. 동생들에게 너무 고마울 따름입니다. 그런데 어디에 어떻게 사용해야 할지 고민입니다. 무엇인지 궁금하시죠?

제2차 세계대전(1939~45)중에 다시 독일나치의 지배를 받았고, 1945년 소련에 의한 해방후 공산정권 시대(1945~89)가 시작되었다. 1968년 개혁운동으로 프라하의 봄이 실현되었지만, 바르샤바 조약군의 개입으로 좌절되었으나, 1989년 11월 벨벳혁명에 의하여 자유민주정부가 탄생하였다. 이후 적극적인 자본주의 경제를 추진하던 체크측과 온건한 혁명을 추구하던 슬로바키아측이 대립하였다. 1992년 6월에 자유총선을 실시하였으며, 1993년 1월에 체코슬로바키아 연방이 분리되어 체크공화국이 탄생하였다.

As ministers lay commemorative wreaths at the Czech radio building – which has come to be a symbol of resistance – Czechs at either end of the political spectrum disagree about the value of the 1968 reforms.

The Czechoslovak Communist Party leader Alexander Dubcek tried to liberalise the country’s communist regime by introducing free speech and freedom of assembly.
But the period – that came to be known as the Prague Spring – ended when Warsaw Pact troops invaded on the night of the 20-21 August 1968.
More than 100 people were killed, and the Communist leaders, including Alexander Dubcek, were arrested and taken to Moscow.

On Thursday the Czech President Vaclav Havel said the Prague Spring was “a beautiful time because after 20 years it was possible to breathe and speak freely.” <출처 BBC>

4월에 동생이 신혼여행으로 이곳 영국을 온다고 하네요. 지금부터 부지런히 프랑스 여행에 차질이 생기지 않도록 호텔 그리고 교통편을 예약하고 있습니다.
그래도 신혼여행인데 하면서 고급 호텔들을 찾으러 인터넷 이곳저곳을 기웃거리다가 Trip Advisor 라는 홈페이지에서 좋은 정보를 찾게 되어 예약하게 되었습니다. 각 홈페이지에서 제공하는 호텔의 가격도 비교할 수 있고 무엇보다 인터넷 유저들의 호텔 리뷰는 호텔을 선정하는데 있어서 정말 큰 도움이 되었습니다.
파리의 전체 호텔을 클릭하고 rating 을 보니 첫번째와 두번째는 역시 나의 주머니를 부끄럽게 하더군요. 3 night 에 2-3백만원이니… 그래서 3번째 랭크된 호텔을 고르고 Expedia 에서 저렴하게 제공하기에 예약하게 되었습니다.
여기서 하나 – 직접 expedia 홈페이지를 가서 하는 것보다 trip advisor 을 통해서 expedia 를 선택하여 예약을 하는것이 더 가격이 저렴하다는 사?..

이리저리 방황하다 결정한 호텔입니다. 루브르 박물관에서 가깝고 웹사이트를 보니 시설도 괜찮은것 같아서… 하여간 동생이 편하게 지내고 왔으면 하는 바램입니다.

프라하 구시가지 광장에 가시면 구시청 맞은편에 틴성당을 보실수 있습니다. 10세기경에 지어졌고 1365년에 구시가의 성당으로 변형이 되어 1511년에 완성이 되었네요. 그러나 이후에도 계속 변형을 가해 17세기까지 다양한 건물 양식이 가미되었고 외관은 고딕 양식으로 지어져 정교하면서도 화려하고, 특히 80m 높이까지 치솟은 2개의 첨탑은 이 교회의 상징으로 멀리서도 볼 수 있습니다. 그러나 내부는 바로크양식으로 되어 있어 비교적 어두운 느낌을 준다고 하네요.

The huge towers of Tyn Cathedral in the Old Town Square are a counterpart to the historical town hall. The Curch of the Virgin Mary before Tyn was originally a hospital church, founded together with the hospital around the 10th century in the commercial Tyn yard. Merchants gathered here, bringing a large variety of goods often from very faroff countries. They paid custom duty, also called “ungeld”, for the things they sold. Still Preserved is the Stary Ungeld, which stands for The Old Customs Yard.

In the 14th century, the hospital church was converted into the main cathedral of the Old Town. The Gothic building with three naves, bordered on two sides by houses, was not completed until the year 1511, when the southern tower was finished. This delay was caused by the Hussite Wars and an event at the end of them. With the timber, which was meant for the construction of the roof, on the order of the detested Emperor Zigmund, a three storey gallows was built. 52 Comrades of Jan Rohac z Dube, one of the last defeated “Taborist” leaders, were hanged here. Before, the church was a centre for both parties. (The Holy Communion of the Blood and Body of Christ.) At the beginning of the Catholic counter-reformation, the church was taken over by the Jesuits in the year 1623.

Tyn Cathedral ranks among the most beautiful Gothic creations in Bohemia. The cathedral is flanked on two sides by rows of houses. A passageway leads to the impressive façade with a Gothic portal. Above the portal is a big window, decorated with artistic tracery. The façade pillars support a gallery, which connects the two corner towers. A splendidly shaped triangular gable, decorated with points and a stone cross and a copper sculpture of the Virgin Mary, stands in between the towers. Both towers have, on their eaves, richly decorated balustrades, which connect four little corner towers.

On the north side is a very beautiful Gothic portal. Its consoles, canopies and foliage, and especially the relief representing Christ’s torture, are truly masterpieces. In the first pillar on the right is a tombstone of the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. He was active in Prague and also died there in the year 1601. His remains are kept in the crypts.

Tyn Cathedral is still a centre for believers and the focus for many visitors, admiring the building art of the past.
