The London Millennium Footbridge is a pedestrian- only steel suspension bridge crossing the River Thames in London, England, between the existing Southwark Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge, linking Bankside with the City. It was the first new bridge across the Thames in London since Tower Bridge in 1894 and it is owned and maintained by Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the Corporation of London.

지난번에는 뉴카슬에 있던 인상적인 밀레니엄 브리지를 소개하였는데 오늘은 런던에 2002년에 완공된 런던에 위치한 밀레니엄 브리지를 보여드리겠습니다. 처음 디자인 할 당시 좌우로 움직이도록 되었는데 안전성의 문제로 5백만 파운드(100억원)을 들여 많이 흔들리지 않도록 재건축 되었습니다. 위 사진은 테이트 모던 갤러리에서 찍은 사진이며 앞에 멀리 보이는 건축물은 St Paul’s Cathedral 입니다.

P.S. 포토샵 프로그램이 없어 원본 사진 그대로 올리려니 사진이 영 마음에 들지 못하네요.

다빈치 코드에서 ‘밀레니엄 눈동자’로 해석되어진 런던아이입니다.오래전에 제가 올린 London Eye (Link) 사진이 있는데 이번에는 4월에 신혼여행 온 동생이 찍은 사진을 올려보겠습니다. 제가 찍은 사진보다 훨씬 좋아보이네요.

King’s Cross is the London terminus for the east coast main line. King’s Cross is the London terminus for the east coast main line. The station was opened in 1852 and the station roof, the largest at the time, was supposedly modelled on the riding school of the Czars of Moscow. It is also rumoured that Queen Boudicaa is buried beneath platform 8. Over 40 million people pass through the station each year.

The first temporary station was built by Great Northern Railway at Maiden Lane in 1850 but closed two years later. The present station opened on 14 October 1852.

해리포터 영화상에는 9번과 10번 플랫폼으로 나오지만 위 사진에 기차가 정차해 있는 4번과 5번에서 촬영되었습니다.

대신 킹즈크로스역 9번과 10번 플랫폼 사이에 관광용으로 Platform 9 3/4 사인을 전시해 놓은 사진입니다.

새벽 4시 런던 동쪽 Canary Wharf (카나리 워프) 신도시에 위치해 있는 곳으로 해산물을 사러 갔습니다. 5시부터 8시 반까지만 오픈하기에 일찍 서둘러 출발했습니다.

큰 바닷가재 두마리, 새우 큰것과 작은것 한상자씩 샀습니다.

WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Man 은 3톤의 버려진 전자제품을 가지고 인간 모습으로 만들어 졌습니다. 한사람이 일생동안 버린 전자제품을 표현하기도 합니다.

WEEE Man 은 환경오염과 재활용에 대한 의미로 다음달 27일까지 런던 시청 앞에 전시될 계획이라고 합니다.

타워 브릿지로 여행 하실 분은 보실 기회가 생기시겠네요….
