Portree is the main town on Skye. Its name comes from the Gaelic Port-an-Righ, which translates as “King’s Port” and dates to a visit by King James V, plus a fleet of warships, in 1540, to persuade the island clans to support him. It had earlier been known as Kiltraglen.

The most photographed castle in the world? Certainly Eilean Donan is Scotland’s most romantic and recognizable. Although the island of Eilean Donan has been a fortified site for at least eight hundred years, the present building dates largely from the early 20th century. Today’s castle, which rose from the ruins of it’s predecessor, was rebuilt between 1912 and 1932 by Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap.
The Island of Skye, situated off the West coast of Mainland Scotland, is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides.

[/caption]골프박물관이 있는데 역시 입장료를 요구하더군요. 함께 골프 용품도 판매하는데 제가 전에 우드 헤드커버를 잃어버려서 이곳에서 하나 구입했습니다. 그런데 Made in China. ‘그런데’가 아니라 이제는 ‘역시’ 라고 해야겠죠….
Golf has been played on the Links at St Andrews since around 1400 AD and the Old Course is renowned throughout the world as the Home of Golf.
브리티시 오픈이 끝난 직후여서 갤러리를 위한 임시 좌석이 아직 철거되지 않았네요.
The picturesque ruins of Urquhart Castle are situated 2 miles from Drumnadrochit on a rocky peninsula on the banks of Loch Ness. After a chequered history, the building was blown up in 1692 to prevent it becoming a Jacobite stronghold. The castle was purchased by a Mr Chewett in the 1930s and in 2003 was gifted by his widow to The National Trust for Scotland.
